NS-12 is collaboration between Loðmfjörð and composer Konrad Korabiewski, which portrays the fishing trawler Gullver based in Seyðisfjörður East Iceland. As an eight channel audiovisual installation the work acquires 1 HDV projector and 8 loudspeakers. The works duration is 52 minutes and has also the possibility of being screened in a cinema hall, but as an installation it functions as an ongoing loop.

The original soundscape for the work is realized as a contemporary composition where all the material is sourced from reality, whereas the imagery is mainly based on still-life recordings where visual perception shines above realism. Together the two mediums explore the complete body of the ship to capture the essence of the steel, a visually intriguing labyrinth where each room has it’s own way of carrying the sound from the engine. The complete work is purely field recorded, accompanied with voiceover recordings performed by the Seyðisfjörður Church Choir and the fourth president of Iceland, Mrs. Vigdís Finnbogadóttir.

Manuscript and cinematography by Kristján Loðmfjörð
